Mom’s Wisconsin Chili
Who knew not everyone puts noodles in their chili? I always thought it was normal. My mom makes the BEST pot of chili on the planet. While in Wisconsin over Christmas break I had her give me her secret recipe. It’s the perfect meal after a day of sledding!
  • 1lb lean ground turkey
  • 1pkg chili seasoning store bought or homemade
  • 1 – 16oz can of kidney beans
  • 1 – 16oz can of chili beans
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1/2cup water
  • 1 – 16oz can of organic tomato sauce
  • 2 – 16oz cans of diced tomatoes (I like to add one with green chili peppers)*
  • 8oz whole wheat macaroni noodles cooked (1/2 a box) optional topping : shredded cheddar cheese
  1. Boil water on stovetop and add macaroni noodles.
  2. In a separate frying pan cook turkey and saute onions.
  3. Add tomato sauce , chili seasoning, and kidney beans to the meat and onion mixture. Stir well.
  4. Once the noodles are cooked, drain the water and then add them to the pot. Stir well. Cook on Medium heat for about 10 minutes.
  5. Spoon into bowls and let it cool before serving! You may desire to sprinkle cheese and/or Greek yogurt (sour cream replacement) on top. Add a piece of peanut butter toast and Wha-la! You have yourself a bowl of my mom’s famous chili!

*The 4 boys that live in our house do not like tomato chunks so I replace the canned tomatoes with more tomato sauce.
